Veteran Olic retires from Croatian team

Veteran SV Hamburg striker Ivica Olic has retired

from international football three months before Euro 2016, the
Croatian Football Association (HNS) said Thursday.
"Saying goodbye to Croatian jersey is a very emotional moment for
me," Olic was quoted as saying by the HNS online.
"Croatia was always above everything else. That will not change, and
I wish my national team a lot of success this summer (at Euro 2016)
in France. I will be Croatia's biggest fan."
The 36-year-old Olic has played 104 times for his country, scoring 20
goals, including strikes at in the World Cup finals in 2002 and 2014.
Olic has featured only rarely for Hamburg in the Bundesliga this
season and in January declined the chance to transfer to another club
in search of more first-team opportunities
